Jesmond Dene House. We consider ourselves very lucky to have this beautiful old house on our doorstep! Jesmond Dene House has a well-documented history. Today it has become a hotel. Although I have never stayed overnight, I have enjoyed its ambience by merely popping in for coffee or booking an evening meal in its excellent restaurant.
Whilst researching a Gosforth family history we came across a link to a historical person of particular interest! Here we share a tantalising glimpse into the home life of the eminent physician Dr. Gibb.
Long time residents of Gosforth will recall a stationery shop on Gosforth High Street, Moods of Gosforth. As children, it was a treat to visit the shop and consider which of the books or stationery we might request for our next birthday or Christmas gift. These memories have prompted us to look at the history of this much-loved shop and its founder.
